Sending and accepting

What happens after a proposal goes out, and how an accepted quote becomes a booking.

A proposal starts as a draft, only you can see it, and you can rework it as much as you like. Sending it is the moment it becomes real.

Sending

Press Send proposal. The customer gets it at the email or phone number on the proposal, with a link to view it.

If you need to chase, Re-send puts it in front of them again without you rebuilding anything.

The three outcomes

Accepted. The customer said yes. If the proposal offered options, the one they picked is recorded, and a booking is created from it there and then. A proposal with several accepted lines can create several bookings.

Declined. The customer said no. Nothing is created, and the proposal stays in your records so you can see what you quoted and what it lost to.

Cancelled. You withdrew it.

Whichever way it goes, the proposal shows who decided and when.

Accepting on the customer's behalf

Plenty of customers say yes on the phone rather than clicking a link. You can accept a proposal yourself from the action bar, and it creates the bookings exactly as if they had.

From proposal to booking

An accepted proposal creates a booking that carries the services and the price across. From there it is an ordinary booking: schedule it, assign it, work it, get paid. See Booking stages and statuses.

The link runs both ways. Open the proposal later and you can jump straight to the booking it produced.

Keeping track

The Proposals page shows the numbers that matter: how many are out, how many have been accepted, and your open value, which is the money currently sitting in quotes nobody has answered yet.

That last figure is the one worth watching on a Friday afternoon.

Quote visits

Some work needs looking at before it can be priced. Book a quote visit rather than a job, go and look, then raise the proposal from what you found. Same service, different intent, and the schedule knows the difference. See Creating a booking.

Turning proposals on

Proposals are an addon, under Settings, then Addons. They are on by default for mobile trades, and available to anyone who wants them.
